Did you know: Outlook for Windows is improving the readability of links

Did you know: Outlook for Windows is improving the readability of links to OneDrive and SharePoint files that are shared with recipients. Senders will also be warned if Outlook detects potential access permissions issues for recipients.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 44590.

When will this happen?

Microsoft will begin rolling this out in mid-May, and the rollout will be complete in early June.

How does this affect me?

Any long url to a file stored in OneDrive and SharePoint will automatically shorten to the name of the file and will include an icon that indicates the file type. Users will be able to see this conversion as they compose an email.

In addition, users will be notified if recipients cannot access one of their links, and they will have the opportunity to address any issue prior to sending the email.
